PowerPad is a lightweight text editor for Windows and Linux designed to provide basic tools for working with text-based file formats. PowerPad offers a multi-tab interface that makes it easy to work with more than one document at a time.
PowerPad includes the features you would expect to see in a text editor, like automatic indentation, word-wrap options, and syntax highlighting for some common languages. You can open local files as well as remote files that are accessible over HTTP or FTP. PowerPad can also be configured to automatically check for updates.
In the event that PowerPad does not provide a feature that you need, you can easily add the feature yourself by writing a script using Python. The application includes a script browser that allows you to view some of the scripts that have already been written and install them with the click of a button.
PowerPad is written in C++ using the wxWidgets framework.
